Recovery process

Hi, I have a problem on my Vaio Notebook VGN-S5HP (corrupted "Client for Microsoft networks" preventing network file browsing) that now requires me to recover the laptop to its factory settings.

My Vaio has a recovery partition and I have created the recovery disks. I know that the recovery process wipes C: (or D:, or both), and returns it to its orginal factory state. However, what about bundled software? Is this restored? (I don't mean applications I've installed myself).

More specifically, I purchased the laptop from Micro Invika in the UK, and at the same time bought an upgrade for Microsoft Office. What I don't want to happen is that when I finish the recovery process the original software is no longer there when i start to apply the MS Office upgrade...

Anyone any advice?

Hi 21d,

If you have burned the recovery DVDs using the VAIO recovery tool then the complete installation pack should be on the DVDs.
This means that at the end of the factory recovery, you will be asked to continue the installation of the installations which will put back your original sofware (that was delivered with your VAIO, including MS Office trial).

Hi tweety2b,

Thanks for your reply. So basically what you're saying is that it is completely automatic, and once factory recovery is complete, all the other bundled software will also be re-installed (including the MS Office Trial)...

Thanks!
