VGN FS215M RAM update to 1 gig

hi,
a friend of mine asked me to upgrade his fs215m from 512 mb ram (2x256) to 1 gig (2x512).
i contacted a online shop in germany which i know from previous upgrade jobs and he sent me "compatiple" memory.
the problem now is that it does not work...

if i put in both of the memory pieces, the laptop does not start but if i try any of the 2 on its own, its works fine. also 512 + a old 256 in combination work fine.

the memory typ is as follows:
ms512son-nb5
vgp-mm512g
and i can see that is is made from infineon

does anyone know this problem?

Strange problem.

Contact the shop and ask for another brand. By the way, which brand of RAM is it?


You could take a look at http://www.crucial.com/eu/ too. They are tested and they work.

Infineon is good. hmm.

But what brand is the original RAM. Mine was Samsung.
I would try the same brand.

There should be an sticker on the original RAM. If not, use Everest Home Edition. Lavalys has canceled the download. But it's not difficult to find it on a few download sites.
