[BUG] Dialing Sensor (Beside Ear Speaker)

After accepting calls, when we put our ear to the ear speaker, the sensor will detect and put the display off.

And when we put our ear away, the sensor will detect and turn on the display.

But on my Xperia S, when i take my ear away from the ear speaker, the display remains off and never came on unless i press the on/off button to activate the screen.

Does other users experience this problem?

Yea I have it, reported the bug here in the ICS problems thread in June, no response from Sony regarding it, others have reported it also, no repair in the latest release.  It seems Sony are hoping we'll get bored of complaining about this phone.

I see, so its official bug.
But sometimes the sensor do work.

I tested,

if i put the ear speaker to my ear and once the display is off, i immediatly take away the phone, the display did reappear. With this, i think sensor works if and only if we test the sensor at the beginning of every call? LOL

Irritating bug. Proximity switch locks screen. Press power button to activate screen and close call

I have exacly the same problem. It is really irritating.

The only way to get the screen turned on again is to press the on/off button. But pressing this button it terminates the phone call.

A few times I have been waiting in a telephone queue with the speaker on, but when I get connected to the operator and want to switch to the ear speaker I can not since the screen dont turns on. Then I have pressed on/off and the phone call gets terminated and I need to do the phone call and waiting again with the phone in my ear at all time.

For me, pressing on/off doesnt end call, just activates the screen for me.

Maybe there's such settings in call settings?

Yes, I think it's in accessiblity, I've turned it on, so I can end the call with it considering the screen doesn't turn on.

Good to see a response from Sony Support once again.
