Insufficient storage to update apps

Insufficient storage to update apps

I had been getting this error message all week when trying to do recommended updates, despite having plenty of available storage.

I solved it by powering the phone off then back on again. Then go straight to the play store app -> my apps then updating. Now the storage is available for updates.

This means that something in android is causing a memory leak.

Windows 95 anyone?

Hi Chris,

i'm having the same problem..  and tagging onto your thread hopefully to find an answer.. :smileysmileywink:

Internal Storage 2.00 GB  1.78 GB Free

SD Card 966 MB  694 MB Free

All photos and music are on the SD Card and I was hoping to use the internal memory for just running apps and the phone. My SD Card is old and probably class 4 so I will upgrade the card to a class 10... 30MB/s or faster this week and see if that helps..

I've looked at backing up the phone and re-setting back to factory condidtions and wiping everything and starting again but the "Sony PC Companion 2.1" doesn't have any back up settings...???   The Sony website shows Sony PC Companion with a method of backing up the phone but it isn't on my programme...

Use any cleaner app, to clear out cache and other useless data.

Make sure you've enough space on Internal and Phone memory. Go to Settings>Apps and check memories.

I have a 32GB memory card and still when I go to update the apps tells me I have no memory. The internal memory storage is full me once. Is there any way to be used by default the memory card to avoid mistakes?

The phone has an 800 MHZ process and limited memory.  It is very easy to fill up the memory, which will slow the phone down.

  • Get an external SD (I have a 32 GIG) and move all your videos, music and photo to this card.  Unfortunately, Google decided to prevent applications from being installed on this card.
  • I use the Navfree GPS application and it allows me to move all the map data to the External SD card.
  • Get the application .... All-in-one toolbox from the app store.  It's free and it will show you exactly how much memory is being used.  On my phone ... RAM 37% free ... ROM 46% free  ... SD (internal, not external) 38% free.  CPU cycles between 8% and 72%
  • Move as many applications as you can to the internal SD card.  Some application can be moved and some can't.
  • Power off the phone to reset everything when it get slow.
  • Don't use live wallpaper
  • Clear cash once in a while.
  • Keep the applications updated and only update one at a time.

Bottom line is you have to manage this phone or it will  slow down.  Mine works great.
