These settings were downloaded to my phone (W995) by the set-up wizard and work fine, so I don't know why they're not working on your phone.Check that all the details are correct and that you are using the correct internet connection for your mobile carrier, which I assume is part of the email set-up on your phone. Also, make sure that for both accounts the Username includes the @gmail.com and the @live.co.uk, in other words use your full email address as the username.

Checked again all details are as same as instructed by you. probably problem can be due to change of location. as you are giving settings for UK, but I am living in India, therefore there sould be some setting problem. but I dont know from which source i can download/get the settings. if anyone can help then please..

In that case, it may be that that this type of email service (smtp/pop/imap) for these email providers is either not available in India or, as you say, may require different settings. You need to look at Hotmail's and Gmail's websites for information on this and whether your phone is supported for this service.I also know that in order to use Gmail on your phone via imap/pop/smtp, you first need to activate this service by signing into your gmail account on your PC and changing the settings.

I dont know whether my phone is compitable or not. but in message folder I have option for email accounts and all settings options is also available. its also sure that gmail and hotmail are providing services in India too. but i am not able to trace the setting over the web also. at sony's download section it was poped that these settings will be sent to me through message, but its not reached to me.

If you sign into your Gmail account on your PC, on your mail page click on the Settings link on the right of the page; this will take you to the Settings page where you can click on the POP and Forwarding link---on the next page you can choose to enable IMAP and/or POP forwarding and save these settings. If you don't enable these features in your account, you will not be able to use the Gmail client on your phone.Hotmail and Gmail may well be available in India, but whether they are accessible via mobile email servers is another matter. You can of course access them by using your phone's browser. As for SE's settings download service, it's no longer operational, as has been recently stated on this forum.

hotmail is web-based mail. You need a full browser to read hotmail.

So how come I can use an email client to access Hotmail on the W995 and W595 in the UK? Obviously, if the country you're in isn't supported by a Hotmail client, then you would need the browser.
