SIM models/brand supported

Hi all:

I would like to know which SIMs are supported by x10 mini.

This error is caused by a SIM incompatibility:

http://talk.sonyericsson.com/thread/3671?tstart=0

The problem is that the phone doens't support or doesn't like some new SIM models, so, I need to ask my operator sell me a old one meanwhile SE fix this problem.

I was looking over the internet and most of people that have this problem have fixed using/buying an old SIM.

Thanks

I think the phone needs a new SIM card - one that is 3G compatible -  not an older one.  At a quick look, that's what the people were saying on the thread you linked to.  I am pretty certain that there are no SIM cards that are too new to be compatible with the X10...

First of all, I am honored, thanks for your reply.

Second, I tried 8 sims cards, 6 from this year and the others are 2/4 years old. I changed between them several times and the phone turn on just with the old ones.

Indeed my sim is 3 months old.

The difference between them is the chip(the golden part in my country) in the new ones it covers all the card, in the old ones only the half, maybe it is a "contact" problem.

BTW, the weird thing is the phone worked with my card for a week.

I don't know if this helps, but my firmare version is 1.1.A.0.8, there are not new updates for this region, my phone is unbranded I bought in a sony store.

The latest firmware available for the rest of the world is 1.2.A.1.174. The point is to know if someone have the same problem with the latest firmware..

Thanks.

My sim card is pretty old but wouldn't be recognised when I first received the phone.  I rang my carrier T-Mobile UK and their customer support said I didn't need a new card but just needed to bend the old one very gently to ensure good contacts from the card to phone.  I was a little sceptical I have to say and slightly worried that I would 'kill' my sim card but they were absolutely right.... it worked like a charm and has been fine since.

So maybe it is just bad contacts with various of your cards that is causing it not to be seen.  If you follow the above advice... be gentle!!!

I am always gentle

Joke asaid, did you say "bend"? I speak spanish and I have fear of misunderstanding.... And Bend it how? vertically, horizontally? chip up, chip down?

Have you spoken to your operator to see what they suggest?  I wasn't aware of the SIM cards with the gold contact covering the whole of the card.  Mine only covers half.

You're maybe habituate to real support, in my country the support is provided by trained monkeys, rats in some cases. So, normally "power users" fix your own problems.

BTW, what firmware version do you have?

Lol on the gentle front!  Good to hear:smileywink:

When holding my sim card blank side up, gold side down then I bent it downwards in a very gentle curve.  It doesn't look like you are doing much but it was obvsiouly enough to make the difference.  It is clearly advice they give out quite often because as soon as I said the problem they replied 'oh yeah all you need to do is bend it slightly.'  I take no personal responsibility for you doing a strong man impression and folding all your sim cards in half tho!

Btw my gold contacts are only half of the card and I have just checked a handful of pay as you go sim cards T Mobile gave my son to hand out to friends when he got his new phone earlier this year and they are the same.

it didn't work for me, maybe I should need your magical and delicated hands.

My problem is when I try to turn on the phone, once it is turned on I don't have problems. To turn it on I need PC Companion and an USB cable. Slightly_frowning_Face

The phone is under warranty if you cannot fix it by all the normal methods and the walk in service centre can't fix it by running the repair, then I think you should ask for a replacement. I have also just seen all of your comments in the very long thread about the mini's not turning on with a Sim card in.  It is obviously some kind of bug which I can understand you being very frustrated by.
