SIM models/brand supported

Hi all:

I would like to know which SIMs are supported by x10 mini.

This error is caused by a SIM incompatibility:

http://talk.sonyericsson.com/thread/3671?tstart=0

The problem is that the phone doens't support or doesn't like some new SIM models, so, I need to ask my operator sell me a old one meanwhile SE fix this problem.

I was looking over the internet and most of people that have this problem have fixed using/buying an old SIM.

Thanks

I think the phone companies' customer service people are not subject to as much regional variation as you suspect - they are trained to read from scripts.  But, if the phone is not working as it ought to work, and Suze's suggestion of bending the card doesn't work, then you really need to insist that they help you.  I would think that in most countries they have to supply you with something that works.

We are all currently on firmware version 1.6.  There is to be an upgrade to Android 2.1 soon - from the end of this month onwards, depending on your phone company and what they are going to do to add their logos and otherwise muck about with a perfectly good product...!

I went to change my chip, but my operator said me that they don't work with that chip model anymore. I try 4 "current" chips and all of them had the same problem (the phone didn't turn on), BUT, the person who sold the chips had an old one... I tried with it and the phone turn on normally.

So I have tested 11 new chips (half gold part) and they fail 11/11

I have tested with the old ones and they work 4/4

At least with my OLD firmware version.

Thanks

I have a lot of contacts 😉 I have a friend working in my Network operator and she got an old SIM card for me. The model is HLR00 64k Generic, and it works like a charm.

So, confirmed it is a phone bug, at least with my firmware version. I was turned the phone on/off ALL the day and it worked every time.

Thanks for your support, please report this bug, this kind of card there are not available anymore, I had just luck.

I think you need your phone replacing under warranty and tell your carrier/retailer that you won't accept anything less.  This is a ridiculous carry on, you can't be going through 13 to 14 different sim cards.  Exchanging one I can understand, but thay many is just plain wrong!  If your carrier can't provide you with an X10 that will work with their sim cards then perhaps they will give you a different handset.

Thanks for our answer but:

1- My operator changes my handset ONLY if Sony reports a problem. (Sony didnt do it)

2- In the support service, they try the phone WITHOUT sim card, withoud sim card the phone works so... there is no problem for them. They can not accept my sim card to test due to privacy issues.

3- At this point I know it is not a SIM problem, it is a software problem because:

a- If you can turn on the phone (using the methods posted in the "x10 mini doen't turn on" thread), the phone works with any sim card.

b- It works normally with my first SIM card for 4 days and 2 with the second one. In fact its used to work with my gf sim card, now it doesn't.

c- I have the same problem with the phone reseted to factory (it is not a third party's application problem).

So, I guess the phone write down something in the SIM card or read something...

Or maybe it is just a random problem in the boot process.

Besides maybe this problem is solved in the "new" firmware version (1.2.A.1.174), but Sony has not released this version in my area yet...
