x10 mini pro issue (touchscreen problem)

Hi sorry if im double posting but this problem is really doing my head in.

I've had my mini pro for 3 days now and i've experienced this problem since my first initial charge.

It seems that the touchscreen does not work once i resume from standby. The keys work and so does the keypad but the system doesn't respond when i touch the screen. At first I thought it was because the phone was charging and so it doesnt operate whilst charging. However, i've encountered this problem 4-5 times with the phone discharged. The only way i can get around this is by removing the battery and putting it back in, which restarts the phone. I don't think this is normal and i've consulted with my friend who has the same phone and claims he has no issues with it so far. So what is going on here?

2nd time- phone was on standby around 3 hours

3rd time- phone was on standby 8 hours

4th time - dont remember

5th time - 10 mins (ridiculous -.-)

Im thinking it may be a phone issue and not the battery (since all the keys work except touchscreen). Also, this DOES not happen everytime phone is on standby. It acts faulty whenever it wants which is very irritating. If anyone is experiencing the same problem pls dont hesitate to post your ideas. I love this phone very much but this problem is leaving me in doubt. Thanx in advance

The first advice always seems to be try a repair via either PC Companion or Sony Ericsson Update Service. They will wipe your phones contents so ensure that your contacts are saved to SD card or synced or both!

If this doesn't fix it, return it to your retailer/carrier for an exchange/repair, altho at 3 days old I would want it swapped for a brand new one.

I have the same issue - touchscreen doesn't respond after standby mode. I made reset off the phone and updated to the software to latest version - there's no change.

Could somebody tell me where is the problem or I need to send the phone to the technical support ?

If you've done a software update and it hasn't solved it I would say it needs to go to the service centre to be looked at.

My daugther experience the same issue with her x10 mini pro. She bought her x10 last august. After a few days suddently she was not able to use the touchscreen anymore when she resumed from standby mode. The keys and the keyboard works. After a few minutes, the touchscreen is responsive again.

Yesterday I tried to update the phone with SEUS, but no newer version was available. Although the version was up to date, I let SEUS re-installed the sw.

I thought this would fix the problem, but today the touchscreen was locked again.

My major doubt is, that if we send the phone back to the service center, that they just re-install the sw again as I did yesterday. Isn't this issue not because of the old android version 1.6? When will SE provide the update to 2.1, or maybe to 2.2 for the mini pro? Is it a good idea to wait for the update, or shall we bring the phone back to the service center first? Any ideas?

It can't be because of the older version of android. I too have Mini Pro and mine works fine. I recommend you to get the phone to the service center as soon as possible. It must be some sort of hardware error (since it was not corrected by a repair using SEUS).
