Xperia Hardware upgrade

I don't suppose sony smartphones allows one to change only the system on chip and keep the device as it is?

I have a E1 which has a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8210 Snapdragon 200, dual-core and only 512Mb RAM, 2Gb ROM and a 32 Gb microSD

It is slow to switch apps, when you press a button on the screen, it takes 2/3 seconds to respond....

It wouldn't be possible to purchase only a higher end system on chip, say:

2.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 8974, quad-core

and add more RAM

onto the same device?

No you can't.Smartphones are not built like laptop and pc's do.

Once they are there. They will be there forever.

Sorry about that, you can't increasr the RAM of a smartphone(All of them, not Sony Only)

No sorry, There is a concept device soon to be released or it already has which will allow this but this concept is in it's infancy and maybe some time if at all to filter to other manufactures

If you are interest in reading about this concept it's called Project Ara

Thats interesting. In a few years time, maybe all of us could upgrade to flagship-like device.

If that was possible then everyone would buy a cheapest phone and then slowly start upgrading one after other.

of course it will be possible for some other new brand.

But personally i don't think upgradeable phones would be considered "cheap"

The Project Ara is rumoured to have higher specs than (almost) all high-end flagships.

It would rather be a phone for collector's or extreme gamers.
