Netflix error (-200)

Hi. I've got the Sony Xperia Z5 compact and I'm really starting to get annoyed about Netflix telling me there is a connection error (-200) and not allowing me to watch anything. Everything else works fine on my phone with no connection issues, infact Netflix used to work fine too but I can no longer use the app or even go through Google and use the Netflix website therefore leading me to believe this is an issue with my phone. Is it possible that I've managed to change a setting on my phone by accident, more than likely due to the fact the phone screen doesn't lock while I'm on the phone (this being one of the phones worst features). Is there anyone out there that can help?

@CT213 It seems to be a network connectivity issue:

Yes I'm aware it's a connectivity issue as thats part of the error description but it's only Netflix that has this issue. Thank you for the link to the Netflix help page but I've been through it 2 or 3 times before. It just says to test the connectivity via Netflix or by using another app. This help section is purely based on the fact that there is either a problem connecting to the Internet or the router needs resetting. I've tried various different routers all with the same result. If I go onto Netflix via Google I can see the programs/films but can't play them where as the app just won't let me get past the sign in page. I've read somewhere that if the time and date on your phone isn't correct that it can have an effect on the playback (somehow). My phone is set to auto date and time but I've noticed it is slightly different from my laptop. Could this be the issue?

@CT213

That's a possibility but you might have to contact Netflix regarding this, since it's a third party app and service, it will be up to them to address this issue.

I did think that might have to be an option although through my searching I'm starting to feel I'm the only one having this problem. If others we're having the same issue then I'd put it down to problem with Netflix, hence my reasoning for there being an issue with my phone settings. It's been 2 or 3 weeks now since I realised it wasn't working and during that time I've had both a Netflix app update and a system update for my phone, I'd hoped one of these updates would have resolved it

@CT213

Does it work with Data? Does it work with a different router?

No bun it doesn't work on data or by using a different router. I have other devices such as my laptop and Xbox which both run Netflix perfectly fine

@CT213

I see, then do contact Netflix directly on this issue, keep us updated.

Hi.

I have an Xperia Z5 and I just started having this exact same issue since last night.

I was wondering if you've since been able to resolve it. I updated to Android 6 yesterday, dunno if it's related at all or not.

Hi all,

I noticed it has been quite time ago but i have just switched to new xperia z5 and guess what, the same problem with Netflix app. I really think it is xperia related issue as this service works perfectly on other devices. Could you please support?

Thanks,

B.
