Can't receive calls

Can't receive calls

' all incoming' in Settings is showing as Disabled.

To enable calls I am asked for a password.

I can't remember inputting any password ( apart from when the phone is switched on) which I use.

I have had this since I bought the phone but because of very low usage I have not noticed it before.

Hi @bobman1, welcome to our forum!

I'm sorry to hear about this.

If you are referring to the call barring setting in the phone and that one is disabled for incoming calls that is how it is supposed to be. If you enable this setting, you will not receive incoming calls. For more information on the password, I'd recommend that you get in touch with your operator.

When someone calls you or if you can call yourself from another phone, is there any voice message saying that the number can't be reached or that it's busy?

I'd recommend that you start with registering on your operators network again. To do that, go to Settings > More > Network operators. Now a search will start and when it has been completed, tap on your operators network (marked with a small house icon).

You can also try with another SIM card in your phone if you have one available or if you can borrow one from a friend, colleague or family member!

Let me know how it went!

Thank you for your reply.

  • I have tapped on  3 ( my supplier)  in Available Networks.
  • When a call is made to the phone from another phone " can't take your call right now " is the message received by the other phone.
  • Also, the call from the other phone immediately goes to voice mail on my phone.

Thanks for the update!

If you haven't tried with a different SIM card in your phone, I would recommend doing so. That way we can see if this is related to the phone or the network.

You can also reboot your phone in safe mode to make sure that is not caused by a third party application blocking all incoming calls.

Keep me posted!

Again my thanks Jonas.

Tried switching sims and did the safe mode - unfortunately still unable to receive calls.

Thanks for the update!

That sounds very strange. Slightly_frowning_Face

In this case, I'd recommend that you perform a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will delete all data stored on the internal storage of your phone and reinstall the latest available software.

Since data is being deleted, creating a backup using Xperia Companion before you start with the repair is advised.

Fixed.

Went to Settings, Call, Call Forwarding _ ' Always forward ' was enabled.

Do you know how I can reduce the number of rings before a call goes to voice mail?

Hi again @bobman1,

I'm glad to hear that it is working now and sorry that I didn't ask you about this setting. Slightly_frowning_Face

There is no setting directly in the phone to reduce the amount of rings before a call goes to voice mail, you will need to get in touch with operator (service provider) and they will adjust this for you or if you can call the number for your voice mail and change it in the settings in there.

Have a great weekend! Slightly_smiling_Face
