I bought a Sony DSC-DX10M4 in September 2021 and It's just started making a strange noise when the lens is extending or retracting and the noise is louder when retracting.
Also occasionally the lens will go out to full extension 600mm and a message comes on the screen to switch off and switch back on. This clears the problem.
The camera clearly needs to be repaired, but the Sony website seems to be useless, as it just goes around and around without actually allowing me to book my camera in to be repaired.
Has Sony UK actually got a repair facility ? If it has can someone send me a link to it please.
Hey @MikeP43
Did you try to test different lenses with the camera ? Check if the same thing will happen or not ?
Also, I believe your model is DSC-RX10M4, right ?
If the same issue is happening with more than 1 lens, you can try the steps here ending with initializing the device: https://helpguide.sony.net/dsc/1720/v1/en/contents/TP0001561106.html
If still the same after the steps, you can refer to Sony authorised service centres from here: https://cutt.ly/rezQ0fVY
Just enter your post code, and it will show you the nearest centres to you, when you press on the service centre, it will bring you the contact details.
Thank you for your suggestion, but you obviously know nothing about a Sony DX10 M4 camera, as the DX10 M4 is a Bridge camera. i.e. The lens is fixed to the camera.
Hey @MikeP43 , i think you need to Initialize it and make sure you took the batteries our for 1 minute to let it rest then reinsert it. If you still hear that noise you need to contact the support team
