Big Hello - new to the Vario World + FEW Questions

hey folks,

i m absolutly new to this site. bought a 40gb Vaio and think this little thing is stunning..

But there are a few Questions that i´ve got:

MP3 Support - I ve installed new Firmware, downloaded new Software, but still i cant copy MP3 Files directly, without decoding, to the VAIO.
why that?
thought Sony made it happen with the new Firmware to copy directly MP3 Files.

Any Extras? - are there any usefull extras (programmes, plugins) that i can install to make the VAIO more unique. More Color-Plugins for example.

Picture Viewing - big aspect. its a bit hard to use that feature. No Overview, no possibility to "scroll" fast through picture archives.
how do you handle that?

When i upgraded my pocket with the frame ware and SS 2.3, I can't transfert my mp3 without convertion to atrac.
so i updated SS 2.3 to SS 3.1 (http://www.sonydigital-link.com/DNA/SonicStage/SS31.asp?l=en) and then i can do the transfert.

ATTENTION : SS 3.1 don't recognise the vaio pocket only after reinisialization, so you have to format it before use whith SS 3.1

ok, well.. i ve installed new SonicStage Version.

Took me HOURS to import all the Albums again.. by the way. uah.

okay, so here we go:

First of all, i m using SonicStage for the First time yet, because before it was just more comfortable to Drag and Drop via "VAIO Music Transfer".

Still i CANT Drag and Drop directly MP3 Files with VAIO Music Transfer.
this is quite annoying. Its so easy tho.. is there any solution to get this fixed?

I don´t like SonicStage by the way. After importing a Folder with different Songs and Interprets, he wont show this Folder, he shows every song. annoying, again..

Why its not Explorer compatible? it would be so easy to copy files directly to the VAIO.

one Question to SonicStage again:

I can change Bitrates now. Does that mean this will be the directly Transfer for MP3 Files?

I tried that and found out that the Files are now saved on the VAIO as OpenMG Audio - Files.

can´t believe that its JUST HARD AND ANNOYING to copy Files and Folders to the VAIO.

if somebody feels free to help a good Guy out of this mess.. man, i would be very thankful

....and I STILL can't transfer mp3 iwthout conversion.

Oh, and just in case Hornby comes along to patronise me again;
I CAN FOLLOW SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS.
I HAVE DONE IN THIS CASE.
THEY DON'T WORK.

Is that simple enough for you?

didn´t know that sony is THAT crazy to throw a Player on the Market that isnt able to play MP3 files - the most usual File Format for Music - at all.

how do you handle that?
just leave it like it is.. save songs in OpenMG/converted Format ?

there isnt any Substiute for SonicStage out there, right?

sony wants to publish its own format the atrac !

I got my mp3 files in the harddisk, and I use sonicstage 3.1 to transfert files to the
vaiopocket. I set up SS transfert option to "direct copy"

actually ther is no substitute !! perhaps because the vaio pocket is not very popular !!

hey all.
well, i got my vaio yesterday, updated firmware, installed ss, reinstalled, and reinstalled again, this time the 3.2. yay!~

so let me get things straight....
from what i understand, now, i can transfer the mp3s i have with the ss3.2 and all it does is change the extention to *.ogm, but it's still an mp3, meaning i don't have the copyright problems on other computers etc. right?
but the files are still saved in the VP as something like 100001.ogm? meaning i have to take wild guesses now to know what file is what?
well, if all that is true, then, that s*cks, but still some sort of a solutin...
gorrect me if i'm wrong, thanks.

where do you find SS 3.2 ?? are you sure it's 3.2 and not 2.3 ??
