monitor resolution problems

Why Oh Why can't the monitor on my VAIO VGN-FS315ZS display games (i.e. Sierra's F.E.A.R and E.A Games' Battlefield 2) in widescreen, when my samsung 32" TV in monitor mode has no problem?
Also, why don't the driver packages from NVidia recognise my hardware?

You have to set the gamesetting to widescreen. NVIDIA doesn't support Mobile Chipsets. You have to stick with the drivers from Sony. Just take a look at vaio-Link.com.
