New Vaio User Needs Help With Internet Background Colour!

Just got my first laptop-FS415B.
Very happy as so far everything has worked as I have wanted, except the backgound on internet explorer is white on everthing I visit, which is a bit hard on the eyes! I'm not sure if I did this by accident myself, or if this is the default setting.
Have played around but can't seem to change it..I am a bit of a novice so any advice would be welcome.

Hi Snappergirl,

Click Tools > Internet Options, on the General tab Click ‘Colors…’ In the next window uncheck ‘Use Windows colours’ and then click on the background colour to select your preference.

Thanks Rich912, I tried that, and it will let me change the font colour, but has no effect on the background, which remains white.
I think I may be going mad...either that or I'm just incompetent!

I don’t understand that, I have just tried and it works fine. Are you logged in with administrator privileges?

Hey Rich912. I was just playing around with accesability options and unchecked the high contrast button that I must have checked, and that has sorted out the problem.
Thanks for your help.
