R600 iLink boot problem
Hi there, I own a R600 HFP and connected an external dvd drive (tried several: Pioneer 106 and Toshiba 1802 IDE drives) to the iLink port. It's work fine but I haven't figured out yet how to boot from this drive.
I have enabled iLink boot on BIOS and the boot order should be ok. Any ideas?
The tested bootable cd works fine on another machine using the same dvd drives,
Thanks in advance!

I don't think you can boot from anything else except a Sony device.

Thank you for your reply!
I guess you are right although I hope you're wrong. That wouldn't be very customer friendly.
Ah one more question: Will a Sony IDE device work?

What you could do is have a floppy with drivers (DOS) for the external hard disk drive. Then all you would need is a floppy drive if the system doesn't have one.

How to connect this floppy drive? USB, PCMCIA or something else? I guess it has to be a Sony one, right?
I never had any trouble with my notebook but this time it has I'm a little bit disapointed.

Yes, it's a Sony, it connects via USB
I know how you feel, it sucks.
