Sony Repairs

Hmmm.

Overall NOT impressed. My VAIO has been three weeks so far, and all the VAIO-Link website have to say is this:

"Dear Visitor. Your VAIO has been shipped to the Repair Centre"

Lol useless, same message after three weeks.

*Gulp* I am wondering if they lost it...

Sony Corporation can expect a phone call tomorrow morning, and they better have a bloody good explanation of what is taking so long.

I will use the Charmingly nice, then pushy, testy, terse, annoyed, legal action tactic on the phone each time.

I just wonder if anyone else has had a bad experience. It makes me wonder if I have seen my VAIO for the last time ever.

Yeah it sounds like they are doing quite a bit more customer satisfaction surveys nowadays which is nice to see.

*sigh* UPDATE

Rang VAIO-Link today because the status on the website was still "Dear Visitor. Your VAIO has been shipped to the repair centre".

Charlie from VL reliably informs me that they are replacing the entire screen after performing extensive testing on the display. They confirmed the problems I was having, and also stated that the inverter was 'knackered'. A replacement screen is on its way to Karlstein, Germany.

All they had to do was to write this on the website under "Repair Status", but I had to ring VL to find out.

Three weeks is a long time to wait without my main PC. I am having to work on my Clie instead.

Pretty bad that the inverter has gone within what? A year?
Just seems to me that people are making technology to last around 2 years, then chuck it out - this is both not enviormentally friendly, and is adding to global warming.

Something has to be done.

Good news that they're replacing it though James, thats a good £800 worth of gear being replaced.

Glad to also hear your esupport experience has been flawless so12

Thats what you get from Companies with a 0870 Number

I also think that when Sony take our Systems from us, for exapmle over 2 weeks then that time should be added as an extension to our existing Warranty Period, since the time they have it we aren't using it and therefore not taking up the Warranty time.

Why is the screen on its way to Karlstein, Germany?
HQ is in Belgium right?
Isn't there a Repair Center in France who should have the parts?

I will be posting the outcome of my situation soon in a Topic posted in "Want to buy my first VAIO", and yes, No I still haven't it got it, you happy now Kee-Loo  ,joking.

One thing I hope is that I get what I was Promised for a sceond time,
because apart from taking Legal Action (Already have a Case with Trading Standards ready to kick off next week if I am not in Receipt of the Laptop) I will also probably become the Owner of a site called "sonysucks.som" and be banned from here but don't worry you will all be notified about it one way or another, plus it will be on Google.

I totaly agree with the esupport site situation too being down a lot of the time, strangely the rest is ok.

And the poor excuses about waiting for Parts or got the Case numbers mixed up are a bit too old of an excuse for my like-ing, and its not as if its the only Company who uses this Technique.

I also think that there is somehting dodgy going on in these Forums, although I won't make any accusations as of yet be assured that I will be releasing some info to some of you in the near Future.

Lots of Love

I think the whole unit is in Germany, correct me if I am wrong James....

The bad news is that Sony will get their lawyers to shut it down, or they'll probably try to drag it through the courts system.

Hope you get it back soon

IC, didn't notice him mentioning it

Well that will cost them won't , and by that time they will have lost a few customers.

You never know I may even get some good advise off these guys http://paypalsucks.com/ , there sites been up for a very long time.

Just a thought for now anyway, all depends on the outcome of my case.

LOL I like that site.
I feel they do overdo it with the charges to use PayPal.

Wonder if there's an ebay sucks site yet (probably opened by Sir Bob by now)`

Hi James

Had the same problem with my faulty vaio. I bought it in November and had a problem with it from day 1. Reported it to vaio link, told to do a complete system recovery. The problem continued, so they sent it off to Germany to repair it. After 2wks they said nothing was wrong with it and sent it back. As soon as I put the power on the problem was still there. Contacted vaio link again and complained. They had me on the phone while they tried solutions which seamed to work, but the next day the problem was still there.

After phoning them nearly everyday they took it back to Germany and assured me that they (vaio link) would not let them send it back unless they found a fault. After waiting 3wks and still seeing the status repair on the website saying "Dear Visitor. Your VAIO has been shipped to the repair centre" I contacted vaio link to find out what was happening and was told that they were waiting for a new motherboard. I asked if I could have an extention on my warranty as the laptop had never worked and was told no.

I got back my laptop after 4wks to discover they had not completely installed the software and that my laptop had a different name so I was unable to use my recovery disc as it was not reconised. I contacted vaio link again and asked them to send me new discs, but they were not able to do this, instead they would have to send my laptop to France this time.

I was really annoyed about this and told the guy all the problems I had have my laptop. He phoned me back to say that I should get my laptop back within 1 wk and that they had added 3mths extention to my warranty. True to his word I got it back 4 days later.

It took Sony a total of 4mths to find out I had a faulty laptop but I am pleased that it has been working ok for 2mths now and is just as it should have been when I bought it in November.

It's a shame you have to be on at them all the time before they will do anything to help you.

Woodernhorse: yeah thats pretty scary, though eBay can be very cheeky too.

Newbie: thats pretty bad service. I don't think I'd be very pleased if they had my VAIO for 4 months, I would be furious.

Glad it finally got sorted
