the speed of the DVD-RW

First i would like to say hello "hello"

i have a new VGN-A115Z, i today used the DVD-RW to make backup copys of my dvd for the car. as i dont want to keep the real ones in the car. the speed of the dive is ment to be 4 speed, i set it to 4 speed when recording my back-ups. is said that it would take 14 mins to burn it at 4 speed but it took 28 mins, which makes me think its burning at 2 and not 4 speed.

i am using nero to burn them.

Sounds like it used 2x to burn the DVD.
Are you sure that the disks can handle > 2x?

what would couse it to burn 4x disks at 2x, when i put it to burn at 4x ?

Usually in the burn dialog in Nero.
