vaio desktop PCV-RS322

 Got my vaio 10months and when I start it and I put a disc in the dvd+/- rewr or dvd rom everything freezes on my desktop, so the mouse won't react neither if I do Ctrl+alt+del, so I have to turn off the pc, when I am starting it then everything works and the drives wiill read it. So sometimes it works and sometimes it will freezes/ stops. I allready installed the firmware from sony site but it still won't work. Does this have to do with lincences or something, and...... WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO! Please vaio people solve my problem!!

Sounds like you could need a new DVD drive.

So in the worse place could I do a recovery or buy a external drive? wich one......

Worst case - do a full recovery and if things are no better get Sony to sort it out under warranty.

I find it difficult to understand why you have suffered this for 10 months.

Get it fixed befoire your warranty expires.

Yeah I would try a recovery, if that fails send it to Sony before the clock runs out.

No it happened the last two months, but I doubt because I upgraded the vaio with internal memory and a tv tuner in it, so maybe sony won't do the reperation, so wondering after a recovery and calling them, is it possible in the last way to put some a new dvd drive in it? because are there ones who are compatible with the opening/ front of the motherboard?

Simple - Take out the extra memory and video card before you return it to Sony.

You could also uninstall the TV card software then noone would even know - Not even Sony.

Obviously neither of these upgrade have any bearing on your problem but better to be safe than sorry.

Yes, you could buy a new DVD drive as the dimensions are standard but whether it will match the rest of your computer is another matter. Do you have flap that comes down when you eject the DVD (My RZ desktop does).

yes I do have that also, why....

I think it's possible because I see how it works with the flap, what do you think....

It's possible - the RA104 has pleanty of space to do it if needed (god who'd want to it's perfect).

William has the best solution: remove the upgrades, try the computer after a full recovery and if it still has the problem, send it to Sony for a repair.
