VAIO PCG-FX103 ehternet problem

Hi, I borrowed this notebook from my sister. She had always an ethernet connection at here student appartment in The Netherlands. I borrowed this laptop because I'm taking an internship in Stockholm. When I plug in the cables for the internet I can see the icon that the computer is connected (windows 2000 pro). The computer sends packages, but I can't receive anything. I tried everything: Reinstalling windows (now almost every driver is gone....) releasing the ip adress and renewing. Nothing works! The ethernet card is an intel pro/100 ethernet card. I hope someone knows what to do!

Yes there are some nice internet connections in Stockholm - better than UK

Have you checked your firewall isn't blocking it?

Yeah I checked my firewall. Even when I turn the firewall of I can't get anything.
