Wireless network freezing on FS215Z?

Hi, I have a FS215z and the wireless network seems to freeze or 'lock up' periodically though the icon in the task bar claims the connection is good. I have disabled the Aegis protocol but it dosn't seem to have made any difference.

Anyone else having similar problems....?

Thanks in advance

I'm now on DSL but had wireless for quite a while. Two words: Signal and Spyware. To enjoy wireless you need to have your system tip top so it draws the signal without latency and lossy. Get Spybot it's free, better still ad aware. ( I use both) Then get Diskeeper lite (and defrag all the options including MFT on reboot (MFT size) and get Tuneup Utilities free trial and you are all saddled up and ready to go. My system is cat like

That seems to be a Windows bug. I have the same problem sometimes. No idea how to fix it. It comes and goes.:smileysad:

I think you might be right, I had a silmilar problem a couple of years ago (different laptop) the problem turned out to be the wireless (belkin) card and after I replaced it with a Netgear the problem never re-occured, however my current laptop is a Centrino system and replacing the wireless card isnt an option.

Thanks for your info

If anyone is interested; there is an updated driver/utility package for the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG card (2100 & 2915ABG also) on the Intel site which updates the driver to version 9.0.2.25.

I have only just installed it myself so it¿s difficult to say at this stage whether the connection stability problem has been cured, however this is one of the improvements claimed in the release notes.
I will keep my eye on it for a while and post the results here.

The link for the update: http://support.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/cs-010623.htm

I have a D-Link card in my VAIO. If I use the D-Link software, then I have no problems too. But it use a lot additional Ram. That's why I use Windows for the Wlan configuration. At the moment it seems to be OK, but that is only temporarly.:smileyrolling_eyes:

Well its been about 24 hrs since I installed the updated drivers and everything seems fine now, the connection seems a lot more stable - it hasn't frozen once! I'm a happy bunny
