I've searched the internet and this forum and nothing has worked. The phone did a funny a short time ago and needed a hard reset and restore from back up to get contacts back. Ever since the battery life has been minimal with rapid discharge even when not using many apps. The main issue is below 50% where it can plummet to switching off in a matter of minutes. From 20% the battery will drop 1% every 5 seconds or s, sometimes quicker. Plugging a charger in often shows 25% or similar when restarted. Tried all the stuff I could find. No apps running but screen on low does the same so it's not app use and I've checked that too. Seems coincident with reformat but may not be. Help please as it's becoming unusable. Cheers, mac
Hi @Lumpy,
Welcome to the community.
Could you please list the things you have tried so far in case there's something you've missed?
Hi, thanks for the reply.
I have tried the soft and hard shutdowns, 1 buzz and 3 buzzes. Tried the battery charging when phone off thing 2 or 3 times now. This issue manifested itself after reformatting due to it throwing a wobbly, this was some 3 weeks ago. Restore done from previous backup too.
To reitterate, once down to 50% (quicker than used to) the battery level declines rapidly, then it seems to jump to 30%, then 20% and by the time the charger is plugged in 10-13% then 3, 1, and off sometimes.
Another longstanding issue, irrelevant to this is 4 text message seem held on a server somewhere as everytime the phone is restarted they come through. This is the tail end of coverage issues in the local area mid last year sometime. How can I clear these too? This issue isn't phone based or related to the battery issue.
I have researched on this and other forums but found nothing decisive on any that has worked. I have checked the phone over a day with no visible apps running, or when the system was interrogated, to cause the sudden decline commensurate with the latest software. I have also turned location services off even though this had, up until recently, not caused an issue.
Test the phone in safe mode and see if the problems persist. If they do, run a software repair using Xperia Companion. If they do not, then it will be a third party application causing the drain.
I'll try that thanks.
It's definitely not a third party app causing the issue as there is much less on it after the recent reformat. The issue ONLY started after reformatting with the latest software. Maybe the battery is failing of course. Watch this space. Cheers.
I am sorry to hear that @Lumpy,
I recommend you contact your Local support team and have it assessed.
and less than 3 minutes later without anything being openm 2% then shutdown.
