FS215Z Temperaure

Hi, I have just bought a FS215z and so far I'm really impressed, however there seems to be a fan running all the time albeit quietly. Just for to check I ran Mobilemeter which come up with hard drive temp in the low 30's but cpu was (is) at least 48 deg on idle and reached as high as 63 deg when working but not doing anything particularly taxing.

Are these acceptable temps for a Centrino notebook, and should this fan be running constantly? I was under the impression that the whole point of the Centrino setup was to have cooler quieter running laptops. To be honest I'm a little concerned about this.

It has occoured to me that maybe the power control/options aren't set up correctly does anyone have any suggestions on the best settings?

this is perfectly normal mine runs at the same, the centrino can run hotter than the p4

Thanks ant1uk I feel a little better about it now. What settings do you recommend using in Power management for the cpu (when plugged in) - Adaptive or Performance?

Thanks Kee-Lo. Having you guys reply to my post and some reading on the Intel site I feel more comfortable with it now, in fact having looked around a few other forums etc I've come to the conclusion that mine runs a little cooler than average so I'm a happy camper now :smileygrin:

Hi Gish_X thanks for the reply, I'm getting the same temps as you and like you say the fan seems to be running most of the time, though it's not particularly annoying especially compared to the fan on my friends Toshiba.

Lets just hope that Sony had the good sense to install quality fans eh?
