PCG-K115Z Freezing please help..!!!

Is anyone else having problems with the K115 series freezing. It happens normally after 15-20 mins of use and can occur during any activity (normally low or idle) the mouse freezes up and nothing responds (not even ctl+alt+del) You have to hard power off. It happens a lot when using Internet Explorer.

I tried restoring using the system restore disk and that seemed to solve it, but 2 days later it seems to be happening again.

I have registered the warranty but when I try to log into e-support it states it doesnt recognise my email address.

Most frustrating....please advise

Mike

I don't think you should give up just because they can't reproduce it, it's their job. I think most companies would simply exchange it for a new one, hold out for that if they can produce no better solution.

Hey, i bought the same laptop from a dealer and the same day my comp started freezing every 10 minutes, i did the whole system install and same problem. I reckon there is a problem with the K series. Luckily for me the dealer took the laptop back although he charged in 15% restocking fee but that was fine, i got a new a new laptop from sony directly and not the same one after this experince. I think u better contact sony n tell them bout this problem.

Gosh that seems extreme.

On a 1300 pound laptop 15% is quite a hefty sum (£145?) shouldnt you have had a full refund if it is faulty? Did you speak to Sony at all about it? They seem to still think that the only laptop with a problem is mine....

Well my laptop is in France still and they seem to be refusing to do real world testing on it so we have reached a stalemate. How many times does it have to go backwards and forwards with it freezing for me and not for them before they will give me a refund.

Are there any K115Z users out there who are not experiencing any freezing and are using it regularly. If I felt confident that there were I would consider a replacement (If it were offered)

Hopefully it's costing them and not you
Sony only do something when it hurts their pockets.

I have a K115s, exactly the same spec minus .2 Ghz and it works fine. Just a thought, if it works and France and not here could it be something to do with the power supply?

We don't have a difference in power supply Tyger, just we don't have the ground pin.

I meant more along the lines of plugging loads of things into the same socket, or a dodgy splitter or something. Power fluctuations? Ok maybe I'm wrong but process of elimination says if it works there and not here, what is the difference? Only thing I can think of. Sometimes you have to go Sherlock lol

Good point, using it on a single socket is the best idea.
Overloading a plug is a silly thing to do.

Power fluctuations can cause serious problems too....

Just another update: They still can't replicate the fault. It is making me feel like I am going mad. They arent doing any more testing on it and are planning to ship it back again. They are asking me now to test it but they haven't changed anything so odds on it will happen again. I have asked for an amicable way out of this situation but I don't want to be stuck with this model due to its unreliability. Really I want a refund but I would be prepared to pay more to get a different model (not necessarily better spec) just to get out of the situation.

The Customer relations officer has agreed finally to pass it up to her supervisor to see what can be offered.

My fingers are crossed.

btw I have tried it on different sockets in different houses and still had it freeze.
